Martin Buchwitz, the editor in charge of SPS magazine and the operator of the automation blog has recently conducted an interview with Janz Tec Management Michael Rennerich over the latest developments in the field of industrial computer systems. It was about the reasons why industrial computers became established alongside traditional SPS systems on the market, which current technology trends are in this area and if IT security is a topic for Janz Tec AG. Here you can read the complete interview.
The technological change requires the open exchange, be it at fairs, events or as here in the web. For this reason we are pleased that Martin Buchwitz shares in a short guest post his view on the latest developments with the readers of our blog after the Hannover Messe…
The Changing is accelerating!
After the Hannover Messe I have to postulate that my impression solidified: The Changing is accelerating. Which was discussed cut and dried there under the keywords ‘Integrated Industry’ respectively ‘Industrie 4.0′, is concretizing more and more. It is probably unique in the recent history of industry, that the associations of the three major industries join together, electrical, machine building and IT to advance the topic Industry 4.0. There is a shared office and a well-coordinated response. Politics, universities, associations and companies pull together.
What does all that have to do with us? The vision, which hides behind the fourth industrial revolution has absolutely a strong relation to reality. The last ten to fifteen years were strongly affected by the fact that the automation from IT technology was penetrated. Just a few examples are industrial computer systems, Ethernet-TCP/IP, web technologies and multi-touch technologies. We don´t start from scratch in the matter of industry 4.0, when it comes to that various units and subsystems have to communicate with each other and have more and more integrated intelligence. Then we have approx 30 percent of the way behind us, because modern automation technology offers a lot of functionality which is in demand in Industry 4.0.
I personally see this development as a very big chance for the industrial location Germany. In addition it is already seen technological an extremely exciting affair. Of course, on this way there are a lot of hurdles to clear and to manage challenges. But that is what we technicians and engineers want to, isn´t it?
